In the last 15 months, we’ve grown from the small, new-kid-on-the-block to a thriving, community fueled studio. And we like to think that we make the spin experience a little bit different than the rest of the studios.
One of those differences is the bikes we chose to use. When we started Stax, we committed ourselves to create the most challenging spin classes in the entire city, so we chose to use a bike that took that commitment as seriously as we did. The Stages Cycling bike is made for serious riders; it’s made for athletes.
And because it turns out some of our other favourite studios around the world (Soul Cycle, Cycle House LA, Eastwood Cycle & Wheelhouse Cycle Club), have since jumped on the Stages Train, we wanted to give you a little tour and show you why these bikes are so good.
(P.S. We are not being paid to say any of this. We just really love these bikes.)
We love this piece. This is a silver lever that sits right above the resistance dial. When the lever is toggled to the middle, you automatically add a couple of resistance gears without turning the dial. When the SprintShift is pointing to the right, you automatically add three to four resistance gears. With the blue resistance dial, you can add as much resistance as your legs can take. We coach all of our tracks using both dials and have mastered the perfect resistance formulas for all your favourite classic spin tracks, along a few extra surprises to keep you guessing!
The FITLOCK System
There’s nothing worse in a spin class than sitting back down and it falls on you or when your handlebars wobble throughout class! It’s not fun, nor is it safe. Our bikes come equipped with safety clips that keep your seat and handlebars firmly in place so you can have a safe ride. Quick tip: when securing these clips, you’ll want to hear a click. When it clicks into place, it’s secure.
This is familiar to most seasoned riders. The clip keeps your shoes in place so you can ride hard, but safely.
This is the best part of our bikes. Using the console, you can track your effort throughout your ride. The console will show you the work (kilojoules), calories burned, watts, RPM, speed, kilometres (for those J.Lo challenges!) and elapsed time. We like to track our stats with every ride so we can focus on improving and challenging ourselves every time we step in to the studio. While our Stax 50 classes are not coached using the consoles, we encourage our riders to check their statistics after their classes!
