From the Stax Fam: Steph and Andrea
We’ve found our tribe - and we love ‘em hard.
We are all about support and community at Stax, so when we get awesome stories from our riders, we can’t help but share.
Here is a great testimonial from our long-time riders and Savage Season finalists, Andrea and Steph.
What brought you to Stax?
Steph Yan and our personal fitness goals first brought us into Stax. We have both known Steph for years and she convinced us to give spin a try. It was love at first “pump and dip” and the rest is history. Steph told us that she would be instructing at a new spin studio called Stax and we signed up immediately. We couldn’t wait for the grand opening and purchased our Stax swag in anticipation for our first class.
Tell us about your first Stax experience.
Our first class was obviously with Steph, but since the opening we have done at least 2-3 classes per week (up to 6 rides per week during challenges!) and have been able to ride with nearly all of the amazing instructors.
When we first stepped into the studio we immediately noticed the bikes; they were much more advanced than what we had been using. We were impressed by the overall look of the studio, especially the feature wall and the color changing lights (WE LOVE LIGHTS!!!).
The class was full and the energy was through the roof. Stax instructors always have on point music and encourage you to ride to the beat. This, too, was new to us. The instructors keep the riders motivated with encouragement throughout the class.
What helps keep you accountable throughout our challenges? The challenges keep us focused because we love winning. However it isn’t just the challenges or the winning that keep us motivated; it’s the entire Stax experience. The front desk crew is welcoming, funny and friendly and most of the time our shoes are waiting for us before we even step into the studio (size 8 and baby-sized). We believe it’s very important to support each other and keep each other accountable. If one of us wants to cancel a class, they need to prepare for a public shaming and a guilt trip for days.
When it comes to accountability, even other Stax members keep us motivated. There are so many great supportive people that we spin with, and we have met so many amazing individuals along the way. Every class you see a familiar face and they are always asking what classes we’ve signed up for and when they will see us next…… these things keep us accountable. It’s the smiling faces and the words of encouragement from all the Stax family members. It isn’t always about the class; it’s also about the relationships that we have made and the support system that surrounds Stax that keeps us accountable.
What changes have you noticed?
When we first started spinning we were over the moon when we made it to one class a week (#hardcore). Then we signed up for the Britney challenge and we were forced to step up our game big time - we had kilometers to kill. Over time we built up our strength and endurance, working ourselves up to as many as six classes a week. In the eight months since Stax opened its doors we have become spin pushers. We have persuaded people to try Stax and we will seize any and all opportunities to talk people into doing a #dirtydouble with us.
We love this studio and everything that it stands for.
See you at spin,
xoxo Andrea & Steph
